For example, last years’ ice skating excursion was her very first time on the ice! Initially, she was a bit apprehensive. However, within two short hours, she had become very well acclimated to the cold and ice. Upon returning before pick up, I struggled to find her among what seemed like hundreds of skaters. I almost did not recognize her on the ice because she had whizzed right passed me with the biggest smile on her face, taking long and confident glides. Sure, on that day it was just a young girl ice skating for the very first time but next year, she may be learning how to do figure eights to circumvent unnecessary conflict as she begins sixth grade in a new (Middle) school with many new faces and new challenges.”
